New Ethanol Plant for Phu Tho, Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam — Petro Vietnam has begun construction of a new ethanol plant in Phu Tho Province, about 80km north of Hanoi. The company is collaborating with Alfa Laval and Delta-T on the US$80m project.

The plant should be ready to launch operations by the end of next year. It will produce ethanol from cassava and sugar cane, with an annual capacity of 100,000m3 of ethanol. The fuel will be supplied to the local market.

Petro Vietnam is a government-owned oil and gas company. Alfa Laval is headquartered in Sweden and supplies products used to heat, cool, separate and transport oil, water, chemicals, beverages, foodstuffs, and other items. Ethanol technology firm Delta-T is based in the US state of Virginia.
