Medical Ethanol is used for the processing or production of a wide range of medicines and pharmaceutical products.
Decongestant elixirs, cough preparations (syrups and medicines), mouthwash, iodine solutions and liquid medications may all contain ethanol as either a solvent to dissolve other substances, or as a coloring or flavoring agent.
The pharmaceutical industry also uses ethanol in the processing of many types of antibiotics, vaccines, tablets, pills and vitamins. Ethanol is also used in antibacterial and antiseptic products.
